When dealing with problem behaviors in your children, focus on positive reinforcement techniques. Older children are just learning how to deal with new emotions and physical changes. Showing them the appropriate way to express themselves is the best course of action.

Becoming a stepparent and creating a good bond often takes time and effort over a long period of time. Kids are often upset that their parents split up, and may take that resentment out on you. If you don’t rush things and give them time to develop, your stepchild should slowly start to accept you.
